26 Nov Proudly Supporting The Ottawa Snowsuit Fund for 2014/2015
Year-round, we love living and working in the 613 – but this time of year in particular brings us an exceptional level of pride.
Whether we were ready or not, the city was greeted with its first burst of snowfall and chilly temperatures this past week. Adjusting to the seasonal turnover is tough on all us, but imagine not being able to afford warm clothes for your kids to play in? Browns recognizes this economic challenge for families in this city, and that’s why (as the leading cleaners in the Ottawa region) we decided to do something to tackle it head on.
The Ottawa Snowsuit Fund is a vital Ottawa-based charity that raises funds for the purchase and distribution of snowsuits to needy children, ages 15 years and under, in the community. For a number of years, Browns Cleaners has partnered with this initiative in collecting and cleaning new and used snowsuits for needy kids!
In 2013/2014, the Snowsuit Fund distributed over 16 thousand snowsuits to needy families. Once again, this year is already off to an excellent start. Our annual fundraising gala for the initiative which took place earlier this month raised over $80,000 (that’s enough to help more than 2,000 kids!).
Help us spread the warmth!
You might be asking yourself, how can I help this important cause and spread some warmth to needy kids? Well, as this video explains, if your kids have outgrown their previous winter wear, all you need to do is drop off their gently used snowsuits to any Browns Cleaners location. We’ll wash the clothing for free, and pass it along to the Ottawa Snowsuit Fund to ensure it gets relayed onto a child in need promptly.
You can also check out the Ottawa Snowsuit Fund’s website, where you can sign up to volunteer, subscribe to their newsletter, or best of all, donate directly to support their ability to purchase new snowsuits for children in need.
There’s plenty of great ways to spread warmth in Ottawa – The Ottawa Snowsuit Fund is our favourite. Click the image below for a direct link the charity donation page!
